Position Title: China Shore Base Project Engineer

Our exciting projects include multi-billion dollar developments in the Northern Alberta oil sands, offshore operations in Eastern Canada, international exploration offshore China and Indonesia, and large-scale ethanol projects in Western Canada. We are in the process of building an integrated project team who will implement tools and best practices to enable consistent success in project execution for the organization. Because of our ongoing International operations, we have a new opportunity for an experienced China Shore Base Project Engineer who will be accountable for managing and delivering a significant international shore base project with a capital budget of approximately $100 Million.

You are an expert in managing projects who is looking for a new opportunity to assume full responsibility for all aspects of execution and reporting for a project within a solid and growing organization. In this role, you will assume overall management of a shore base development located in southern China (Guanghai or Gaolan port areas). Your primary accountabilities encompass managing all the resources associated with an international project, which will include engineering, procurement and construction elements, as well as the ability to bring in the project within approved cost and schedule, meeting or exceeding Husky's Health, Safety, and Enviromental targets.

As the China Shore Base Project Engineer, you will also provide expert input regarding risk identification and mitigation, contracting strategy, constructability, safety and environment. Working closely with the Business Unit to deliver fit for purpose facilities within an approved budget, you will provide innovative strategies and solutions to maximize value for Husky.

You must be willing to immediately relocate to southern China for a period of 2 years.

Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications....


¡ñ An undergraduate degree in Engineering is required but a Master's degree would be a definite asset
¡ñ Professional Engineering status
¡ñ At least 15 years' experience in onshore civil project management and execution on a global basis
¡ñ A minimum of 5 years' experience delivering coastal / marine facilities on a fast-track schedule
¡ñ A minimum of 5 years living and working outside your home country, with a minimum of 2 years working in China
¡ñ Excellent and proven practical understanding of project and cost management principles and best practices
¡ñ Familiarity working with ¡°gated¡± execution processes
¡ñ Proven track record as a project leader within an international civil project environment
¡ñ Knowledge of up-to-date Risk Management practices
¡ñ Knowledge of up-to-date business processes and best practices as utilized in international project execution
¡ñ Experience in a wide variety of contracting and execution strategies, negotiation, and commercial / economic evaluations
¡ñ Strong commercial acumen and negotiating ability
¡ñ Ability to read and speak Mandarin is a definite plus
¡ñ An external network encompassing the engineering and construction community is also an asset
¡ñ Strong leadership orientation that includes coaching, development of staff, teambuilding, and guidance of individuals toward goal achievement
¡ñ Excellent oral, written, and listening communication skills; ability to prepare clear and concise reports and deliver formal presentations
¡ñ Strong business acumen, including strategic thinking, planning and prioritizing, and decision-making skills
¡ñ Problem-solving orientation to identify key issues and recommend innovative solutions in a proactive manner
