SUMMARY OF ROLE:
Within a multi-disciplinary subsurface team, be in support of the field development drilling campaign and exploration activities for Husky Oil China Ltd. This position will also provide support as required. Position reports to the E&E manager of HOCL. Play a central role in the detailed planning and geological operations of exploration, appraisal and development wells
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
¡ñ Oversees geological well activities (communications, QC, reporting, etc.) on a day-to day basis during drilling operations.
¡ñ Responsible for assuring acquired data is QC'ed, and loaded into appropriate databases. The work includes documenting/filing details of logging tools mob/demob, any samples manifestation, etc.
¡ñ Perform "Quick-Look" of qualitative petrophysical analysis during drilling.
¡ñ Supervision of the wellsite geologist work products (reports, description, etc).
¡ñ Monitors drilling activity (directional and LWD) and provides input for geosteering well trajectories when necessary.
¡ñ Together with Reservoir Engineer selects RFT or MDT points for pressure measurements and samples and oversees the acquisition.
¡ñ Together with Project Geologist select coring points (sidewall, rotary sidewall and conventional cores) and communicate with Wellsite Geologist.
¡ñ Together with other team members creates detailed well plans for execution by drilling.
¡ñ Prepare detail well evaluation program, including basic and special logging program, Coring acquisition, RFT points, and other post well analysis with Project Geologist and Petrophysicist for exploration and development wells to meet the objectives of the sub-surface team.
¡ñ Provide technical input in the scope of work section for different tender document/contracts (wireline, mudlogging, coring, communication, data management services).
¡ñ Preparation/planning and QC of 3rd party studies.
¡ñ Present mainly well-related activity to management, partners and government agencies to gain necessary approval.
¡ñ Verifying processing costs and review contractor invoices.
¡ñ Assures that all final well data (logs, etc) are delivered by contractors, the data is QC'ed and loaded into appropriate databases, and final data is sent to partners and regulatory agencies as required
¡ñ Compiling final well reports and coordinated its distribution to Partners, and Husky
¡ñ Actively participates in Company Networks to develop and implement best practices and standards in operations geology.
¡ñ Mentors less experienced E&E and other technical professionals.
¡ñ Provides any necessary support to the E & E group in Husky Calgary to achieve its goal
¡ñ Ability to work on the drilling site when required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certifications ¨C Academic
¡ñ Bachelor¡¯s degree or higher in Geology or Geophsics
¡ñ Over 10 years exposure in petroleum exploration and production business
Abilities ¨C Hard Skills (ie. specific software, professional trade skills such as contract negotiation or pipefitting, etc.)
¡ñ Proven ability in analysis and documentation
¡ñ High degree of initiative and ability work with little supervision
¡ñ Fluent in Mandarin and English Abilities ¨C Soft Skills
